We're Ready for Kindergarten!

Here come the kindergarteners! A group of Greencastle-Antrim's newest recruits visited Besore Library today for a story hour with Miss Rose and activity centers to get them ready for their first school year. The children had fun reading about kindergarten, playing math games, finding their home on a map of Greencastle, and using a telephone. In this picture, Abby is showing off the fish she caught in the alphabet pond. What fun!

Thanks to everyone who attended this morning, and a big thank you to the Franklin County Community Engagement Program for donating the box of school supplies that each kindergartener got to take home today.

Besore Library Was Hopping!

The 2008 Catch the Reading Bug program came to a close on Saturday. Our parking lot was filled with over 150 children and adults who played buggy games, ate popcorn, had their faces painted, and took home butterfly nets and balloon animals.

Congratulations to our families who won the Catch the Reading Bug chalk art contest. The Dice family took first place with their depiction of Wilbur and Charlotte's grandchildren. The Fritz family was second with its word-covered butterfly being caught. And the Winslow family was third with their bright, colorful sidewalk block. A Friendliest Bugs Award was given to the Dougherty family.
A big thanks to everyone who participated this summer—it was a great success. We look forward to seeing you during the school year and next summer!
