I Scream, You Scream

We made our own ice cream!
The Mighty Michelangelos and the Petite Picassos had a great time making and eating their creations this week when we got creative with food. Here is the recipe from crafts.kaboose.com/ice-cream-in-a-can-or-kick-the-can.html.

Supplies:
1 pint half and half
1/3 cup sugar
4 tablespoons instant pudding mix
ice
1 1/2 cup rock salt
3 lb coffee can
1 lb coffee can
Duct tape

You simply mix the half and half, sugar and pudding mix in the small coffee can. Put the lid on the small coffee can, and seal it with duct tape. Place the small coffee can inside of the large coffee can. Surround the small coffee can with layers of ice and salt until the large coffee can is full of ice (only use half of the salt). Put the lid on the large coffee can and seal it with duct tape.

Now is the fun part! Shake, roll and kick the can for 5-10 minutes.

Open the coffee cans. Scrape the ice cream from the sides of the small coffee can, put the lid on again, and seal with tape. Pour the melted ice out of the large coffee can, and put the small can back inside the large can. Use the rest of the salt to create more ice/salt layers until the large can is full again. Put on the large coffee can lid and seal.

Shake, roll and kick the can for another 5-10 minutes. Open up the cans and give what's inside to the staff of Besore Library! Just kidding, enjoy.
