Finger Fun: Painting for Everyone

Our Petite Picassos program for children ages 3-5 lived up to its name today. They read stories about painting, learned about color mixing, and got to dabble in paint using many different tools, including paintbrushes, feathers, cars and their fingers!

Join the Petite Picassos next week for Puppet Play either at 10:00-10:45 or 11:00-11:45 a.m.

Making a Mammoth Masterpiece

What do you get when you mix kids, dirt and Crisco? No, not a mammoth mess—you get a mammoth masterpiece! The 9-12-year-old program this morning learned about Maria de Sautuola, a Spanish girl who, at the age of eight, found the first known cave paintings. Then they mixed their own dirt paint from different shades of soil and Crisco (the modern subsitute for animal fat) and set to work using sticks and their fingers to create a cave art mural.

Sound like fun? Join us tomorrow for Prehistoric Painting for 6-8-year-olds. Next week's 9-12-year-old program is all about storytelling—stop in at the library and sign up today!

What an incredible event to open up the summer reading program for 2009! The Cat's Pajamas led an audience of almost 300 Besore patrons in an afternoon of song and dance, meeting fun characters as we all went "star trekking" across the USA. We're all big shot stars!

Want to have your own fun at the library? Then sign up for one of our programs—for all ages—starting this Monday.
