Here is a basic list of everything coming up at Besore Library in January of 2013!!! The Library will be closed on January 21st, 2013
 
Children's Events at Besore Library: 
Preschool Story Time Schedule:
Monday: Jan. 7th, 14th, and 28th at 1:15pm :)
Tuesday: Jan. 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th at 10:00am :)
Toddler Story Time Schedule:
Friday: Jan. 11th, 18th, 25th at 10am and 11am :)

Chess Club will meet on Mondays: Jan. 7th, 14th, and 28th from 6:00-7:30pm :)
Franklin Learning Activity Group - (FLAG) - will be meeting on Wednesday Jan. 16th and Jan 30th at 11:00am. :)
American Girls Club - Will be meeting on Saturday, Jan. 19th, at 10:00am :)
Family Game Night - Will be on Tuesday, Jan. 15th, from 5:30-7:30pm :)
Parent Literacy Class - Will be meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 10th at 10:00am :)
Read to the Dogs - Will be having two meetings on Thursday, Jan. 17th at 6:30pm and another meeting at 7:00pm. :)

Adult Programs at Besore Library: 
Knit N' Chat- A knitting group that will meet on Jan. 14th and 28th, All levels of experience welcome! 6:00 pm-7:30pm :)  
Besore Book Club - Meets the 2nd Tuesday of Every Month, So for January the book club will meet on the 15th from 6:30pm to 7:45pm. New members are always welcome! :) The book for the month of January will be "A Wrinkle in Time", by Madeleine L'Engle.
Computer Classes -We Will be holding computer classes on Jan. 29th 2013! If you would like to sign up for one of these one-on-one 30 minute sessions please call in to find out which time slots are still available and for more information. :)

American Girl Meeting :)

Today we had our American Girl meeting and discussion on Kirsten the American Girl Pioneer. We had games, food they may have made during that time and Christmas Crafts. :) We hope the girls all enjoyed themselves because we sure enjoyed having them visit us, we hope to see you and your children for our family night next Tuesday and our next American Girl Meeting on Jan. 19, 2013! Our next American Girl Discussion will be on Addy, a courageous girl determined to be free in the midst of the civil war. :)

Story Time News for December!! :)

We know its not quite December yet, but it is almost here, and we at Besore Library would like you to be aware of the events we have coming up this month. :)

Chess Club- We hope you'll drop in for a quick game or stay for the entire time; The focus is a fun environment for kids and adults. It is a great way to strengthen a young mind and exercise thinking skills that are so important in a child's education. :) Chess Club runs every Monday that the library is open. So for next month it will be Dec. 3rd, 10th, and 17th from 6-7:30 pm.

Franklin Learning Activity Group (FLAG) - Ms. Tammy will be holding a study on "Snowflake Bentley", by Jacqueline Martin. The kids will get the chance to create their own snowflakes and even play in snow! Please sign up in advance and see Ms. Tammy if you would like more details. FLAG will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 11:00am.

American Girls Club - This month we will be featuring Kirsten, a pioneer girl of strength and spirit who settles on the frontier. Please sign-up in advance if your child would like to participate. There will be light refreshments and fun games where the girls can learn what it would be like to have grown up during Kirsten's lifetime. This Club is for girls ages 7-12 and meets the third Saturday of every month. They will meet December 15th at 10:00am.

Family Craft Night! - Please join us for family craft night where your family will be sure to have lots of fun making a Snowman craft! Light refreshments will be provided. Please sign up in advance. we hope to see you there! The Family craft night will be on Tuesday, Dec. 18th, 5:30pm-7:30pm.

Parent Literacy Class - Will meet on Wednesday Dec. 5th, at 10:00am. if you would like more information please contact us at Besore Library.

Read-to-Dogs - Also known as the Kindly Canines Program meets once a month at the Library. Feel free to bring your child and read to a dog. :) Its a bonding moment between your child and animals and may make them more interested in reading. :) This event takes place on Thursday, Dec. 20th, at 6:30pm and 7pm.

Preschool Story Time - Monday Dec. 3rd at 1:15pm, Tuesday Dec. 4th at 10:00am, Monday Dec. 10th, 1:15pm, Tuesday Dec. 11th at 10:00 am

Toddler Story Time - Friday Dec. 7th, 10am and 11am; Friday Dec. 14th 10am and 11am

Storytime "Dot" Monday pictures

For Monday's Storytime at Besore Library we did a special on the Dot Book and we also read "If you take a Mouse to the Movies", and Jeremy draws a Monster. 

Please stop by Lilian S. Besore Memorial Library on Saturday November 3 at 10am, We will be having Gordy Schlotter, ESPN 1380 Radio Host, read with children 12 and under. :) Football and fall stories will be read. :) Pizza and cupcakes will be provided. :)

Gordy is an ESPN Radio Host on ESPN 1380; cover the four state areas of PA, MD, WVA, and VA; with his program Gordy's Sports World; which focuses on local sports, along with those at the national and international levels. Gordy assists the Northern Storm Minor League Football Team as team chaplain, team adviser and play by play broadcasting of select games.

Make A Difference Day!! :)

(Oct. 26, 2012) Today Besore Library was visited by a group of students from Greencastle Antrim Middle School. They came today to volunteer their time by cleaning, raking leaves, and organizing shelves. :) It was an amazing experience to see children so eager to help and we enjoyed their visit. :)

Family Travel Night :)

A Travel Family Night was held at the Lilian S. Besore Library on Tuesday, 10/16/2012. Everyone had a great time that came and we hope to see you and your family at our next family night in November. :)

Firefighters visit the library.. :)

Last week the Lilian Besore Library was visited by the Firefighters from Greencastle's fire department. The Firefighter's spoke with the children and demonstrated how the equipment on their trucks would be used.. Here are a couple pictures of the little future firefighters learning how it all works. :)

Story Time News for September!! :)

Fall is finally here and though the summer is over Besore library is not done having fun yet. We have plenty of things planned for September and the upcoming fall season. :) Please Check out our event calender at besorelibrary.org to find out specific dates and times! :) But in a nutshell we'll have Preschool storytime, Toddler storytime, Touch-A-Truck Family carnival, Chess Club, Franklin Learning Activity Group, American Girl's Club, and family BINGO night! :) We hope to see you and your family at the Besore Library for our events soon! :)

Summer Reading Program Ends with a bang!

We at the Besore Library are sad to see that the summer is over which also means the reading program has come to an end. :( Though we were all very happy at the turn out to our events we truly hoped that all of the families who attended enjoyed themselves. :) Here are a couple pictures to sum up our journey through the Dream Big Read summer reading program. :)

And though we are sad to see this summer end we hope to see all of you at the library through out the year and hope your children have an amazing school year ahead of them. :) Thank you all so much for participating. :)

Mystery Game Night!

Monday, July 23rd, 2012, Lilian Besore Library hosted our family game night! We played board games and card games! If you couldnt join us this time i sure hope to see you and your family at our next event! :)

"It Happened One Night" (Besore Movie Nights)

Come join us at the Besore Library for our movie showing of It Happened One Night, On July 26, 6:00 pm. :) The movie is Starring Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert, directed by Frank Capra. A spoiled heiress on the run meets her match in a tough newspaper man looking for the biggest scoop of his life. This romantic comedy won 5 Academy Awards. :) We'd love to see you there. :)

Hii, this is the Besore library we just wanted to remind you and your children to make sure that you're logging your books, the last day to log books will be Sunday, August 5th at Midnight. :) And Monday August 6th through Saturday, August 18, the Prize store will be open during regular library hours; So kids turn in all your earned book points for prizes! :) :) 

General Foolishness is a fast paced theater program that includes juggling, unicycling, slapstick comedy and lots of audience participation! General Foolishness visited the Besore library on Thursday June 14 too kick off the Summer Reading program! here are a few pictures from the big event! :)

ZooAmerica

On Thursday, July 26, at 1:00pm, ZooAmerica will be presenting the Creatures of the Night program featuring nocturnal creatures. They will also discuss the unique adaptations that make these creatures successful night-time animals! :)

Besore Library Book Chat! :)

It’s time to think about ideas for your summer reading! The Besore Book Club invites the public to attend a special “Book Chat” at Lilian S. Besore Memorial Library at 6:30 pm, Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Attendees are guaranteed to come away with a list of new ideas for future reading. Please bring either a book or the title of at least one book with you that you can recommend to others. Refreshments will be served.

The Besore Book Club has been meeting monthly since 1999. Many charter members still attend, but the club is always looking for new members. Anyone interested in joining them for their regular monthly meetings can attend this special event for more information.

The Greencastle Brownie Troop's visit to the library. :)

Brownie Troop 820, consists of a group of second and third graders from Greencastle. :) They decided they wanted to take action in their community and create a partnership with Besore Memorial Library. During their meeting they made a list of things they could do to help the library. They offered too clean up the library grounds by picking up trash and/or planting flowers. Plan and decorate a bulletin board with a theme that is important to our community. And donate children's books, toys, or magazines. :) They even offered to use some of the proceeds from their recent cookie sales to help the troop buy what they would need to help. :) The troop leaders are Diane Mills and Erin Herrmann. :) And the girls are; Abbi, Emma, Lauren, Avery, Julia, Lillian, Claire, Kara, Madison, Eliza, Kylee, Summer. :)  Thanks girls for all of your help. :)

"Stop Snoring Bernard!" Pajama Party

On Monday, March 26th, Besore library held a pajama party. The families snored along with author Zachariah Ohora, and made fun otter crafts! :)

Community Event!!! :)

The G-A Kiwanis and Lilian S. Besore Library will host a free, family oriented program for parents and kids ages 5-7 on personal finance and money management. "Right on the Money" is a great opportunity for parents to reinforce their own financial knowledge and learn creative ways to teach positive money management skills to their children. Kids will also enjoy age-appropriate lessons on money using popular children's books.

Giggle Night!!! :)

It is often said that laughter is the best medicine. Family members can forget their problems and worries by taking time for something extremely important: laughter together! :) On February 28,2012 Lilian Besore Library held a family event, known as giggle night. :) Where many laughs were shared by all. They came to giggle by playing with their food to make funny faces, drawings were you could win prizes, and telling jokes. :) It was a good time for all who came.

We hope to see you at our next family night in March, Pajama Party, on March 26, 2012. :)
