Read-To-the-Dogs

This event is fun for all ages and held at the Besore library, it takes place on the third monday of each month. And it is a time for family togetherness, even man's/woman's/child's best friend gets to join in. :) It is a way to encourage your children to read by having them read to someone they really care for, their pets. :) There are usually three or four dogs that come from the Kindly Canines program.

American Girls Club (Dec 17th 2011)

The American Girls Club is a club for girls who enjoy reading the American girl series. The club's meetings are held at the Besore Library every third Saturday of the month. This Month the club focused on Kirsten, a Sweddish girl who comes to America with her family. They discuss the selected girl's life, games she may have played and struggles she dealt with during the stories. And the girls get to sample food that the selected girl might have eaten during her life. Its a chance for young girls to learn a little about history and get a taste for what life might have been like for other girls in different eras in history. :)

A Home Activity for December! :)

Enjoy baking cookies with your child (it may be messy but worth all the learning experiences your child will receive!) Once they are all baked wrap up a plate of cookies, help your child practice zippering their coat, and then take a walk and deliver the cookies to a neighbor! Making someone smile is such a great reward! :)

A Few Featured Books for the Month of December:

These are a few books that will be featured in the month of December at Besore Library during Story Time.

The teens may also be asked to suggest books, magazines, movies for the library. The first meeting of LIGHT for the 2011-2012 school year will be September 13. To apply complete the application provided at the library and return to Ms. Laura.

Back to School

Just as local students are starting back to school, the library is gearing up for our fall schedule. Our school-year schedule begins on September 12 and offers activities for all ages, including story times, read-to-the dog events, chess club, family activities, our adult book group and more. Watch for postings under “Events” and check with the library to see currently scheduled items and keep your eye open for further events to be added.

Reptile Show (Aug. 6th)

On August 6, Lilian S. Besore Memorial Library hosted a reptile show with Jesse Rothacker of Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary. Our standing-room only crowd enjoyed Jesse’s presentation and lessons about our reptile friends. Opportunity for some hands-on experience was offered following the presentation.
