American Girls Club, first meeting of 2012. :)

The American Girls Club is a club for girls who enjoy reading the American girl series. The club's meetings are held at the Besore Library every third Saturday of the month. This Month the club focased on a young girl named Samantha, who was a child in the early 1900's. She was an orphan raised by her wealthy grandmother. In this club, they discuss the selected girl's life, games she may have played and struggles she dealt with during the stories. And the girls get to sample food that the selected girl might have eaten during her life, this month our main theme with food was a beverage, Coca cola, which was introduced as a soda in 1903. The girls also played ping pong, a popular game at the turn of the century, and learned the importance of needle point at the turn of the century, and how young girls at that time were forced to practice needle point everyday sometimes for more than an hour. The American girls club is a chance for young girls to learn a little about history and get a taste for what life might have been like for other girls in different eras in history. :)
